Student and Family Expectations

  • Meeting Attendance: Students are expected to attend each meeting. It is a students responsibility to call their Group Leader or the Cheshire YMCA if they are unable to attend a meeting. If the student misses more than 2 meetings they might be asked to leave the tour process. We hold the Staff accountable to this also.
  • Written Report: Every student will submit a paper (around 2 pages) about the topic that they and their group have been assigned. The paper must be their own work.
  • Presentation: Before we go on tour each group will give a 10-15 minute presentation on the information that they have collected individually, to their bus group. The purpose is to let the other students learn a little bit about each of the places that we visit on tour. Presentations should be informative, but fun!
  • World Service Project: It is the expectation of the Cheshire YMCA that every student touring participate in a World Service Project. As a small group there is often a lot of discussion on what the project might be, as simple as a community car wash or even a pancake breakfast. The group gets to decide. If a student absolutely cannot attend his/her groups’ project, it is their responsibility to find another project to attend. Communication with their leader is very important here.
  • Photographs: Students must submit a recent photograph of themselves before the tour leaves. Group Leaders will hold on to the photographs until the tour is over. This is for emergency purposes only, and will be returned to the student when arriving back home from touring.
  • Medical Form: All students must have a medical form turned in before they can get on the bus, preferably at or before the final Parent/Youth meeting. Please fill in all sections, leaving no spots blank. If it doesn’t pertain to your child, cross it out, so that we know that you have read each section.
