Goals & Approach

Learn about American History:

  • Individual research on a specific, tour-related topic.

Learn responsibility and team work,  and a sense of  community:

  • Group presentation based on a tour site and individual research paper the group comes up with a creative way to present to the rest of the bus.
  • World Service Project- decided on and done as a group to raise money for The Cheshire YMCA’s International Committee to help other YMCA’s in other countries.

Learn to compromise and to share:

  • Students are put into study groups that compromise a mix of schools that are picked at random, they don’t get to chose their study groups. This way they develop relationships with students from other schools and don’t have a sense of going on a trip with a “bunch of strangers”.  Often times, these are students that they will be attending high school with.

Work ethic:

High Expectations

  • Students will take responsibility for their actions
  • Attend all meetings – students call leaders if going to miss a meeting
  • Being a responsible and active part of the group with a positive attitude
  • Best behavior. This tour will affect future tours.
  • 1 adult leader who will go through the entire process with them and be their leader on tour.
  • Ratio is 1 adult to every 6-10 students.
  • The leaders are teachers, school administrators and parents- Many years traveling experience
