The Cheshire YMCA is happy to announce that it has hired Artie Lang as its new Executive Director. He joined the Cheshire YMCA team on April 20, 2015.
Board President, William Parkman says, “We are pleased to make this announcement and welcome Artie to the Cheshire YMCA. His qualifications and past experience make him a great match for our organization and our community. Artie brings an incredible amount of energy and passion, which I know the Cheshire Y will find invaluable as we continue into our future as a community service organization. This is a very exciting time for us, as our Developmental Travel program is completing its 40th year and Camp Takodah is busily preparing for its 100th anniversary in 2016. We have full confidence in Artie’s abilities to lead our organization.”
Rob Therrien, who chaired the ED Search Committee and is the Board Vice President, added, “The Cheshire Y is fortunate to have a great staff, volunteer base, and community of supporters, and we know that Artie’s exceptional leadership skills will only enhance that, while strengthening our mission of serving youth who participate in our Camp Takodah, Developmental Travel or Outdoor Education programs.”
Lang says that he is honored to lead the Cheshire Y as it embarks on its second century of developing youth through impactful summer and year-round programming. The Y is a place that brings people together, and Artie is very excited to be a part of a community with such rich history and tradition.
Most recently, Land served as the Executive Director of Overnight Camps for the YMCA of Greater Boston, which has family camp, two resident camps, and day camp programs.
Before joining the Greater Boston YMCA, he served as the Senior Program Director at YMCA Camp Minikani in Milwaukee, WI and held positions at Archdeacon Gilfillan Center and Nature’s Classroom.
Artie has a Masters of Science: Kinesiology from UNH and a Bachelors of Education: Outdoor Recreation from the University of Kansas. He also holds multiple certifications from the Y-USA continuing education and training programs.
