{"id":27,"date":"2011-03-05T19:28:52","date_gmt":"2011-03-05T19:28:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cheshireymca.org\/neht-s\/?page_id=27"},"modified":"2013-07-20T22:35:11","modified_gmt":"2013-07-21T02:35:11","slug":"world-service-projects","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/cheshireymca.org\/neht-s\/about-the-program\/world-service-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"World Service Projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p>All staff and students involved in CYMCA Developmental Travel Programs participate in a service project in their community. \u00a0The CYMCA&#8217;s International Committee administer all proceeds raised by developmental travel students, through World Service Projects. \u00a0Our YMCA has affiliations with several Y&#8217;s around the world, including contacts in the Middle East, Africa and Asia. \u00a0In Jordan, we help support a camping experience for refuge children. \u00a0In Africa we are involved with a YMCA in Ibadan, Nigeria where we are currently providing the salary for a professional Program Director and helping them build a new facility. \u00a0International Committee members have a formal linkage with the YMCA in Bangkok, Thailand. Committee members also correspond regularly with volunteer staff at the Puttar, India YMCA.<\/p>\n<p>World Service Projects give students an opportunity to work as part of a group to achieve a worthwhile goal. \u00a0As our students develop friendships with members of their group and provide a service to their community, they also develop a sense of world citizenship and stewardship to those less fortunate than ourselves.
