{"id":17,"date":"2011-02-03T21:40:50","date_gmt":"2011-02-03T21:40:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cheshireymca.org\/aht-c\/"},"modified":"2013-07-21T17:58:47","modified_gmt":"2013-07-21T17:58:47","slug":"goals-approach","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/cheshireymca.org\/aht-c\/about\/goals-approach\/","title":{"rendered":"Goals &amp; Approach"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Learn about American History:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Individual research on a specific, tour-related topic.<strong> <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Learn responsibility and team work, \u00a0and a sense of \u00a0community:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Group presentation based on a tour site and individual research paper the group comes up with a creative way to present to the rest of the bus.<\/li>\n<li>World Service Project- decided on and done as a group to raise money for The Cheshire YMCA&#8217;s International Committee to help other YMCA&#8217;s in other countries.<strong> <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Learn to compromise and to share:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Students are put into study groups that compromise a mix of schools that are picked at random, they don&#8217;t get to chose their study groups. This way they develop relationships with students from other schools and don&#8217;t have a sense of going on a trip with a &#8220;bunch of strangers&#8221;. \u00a0Often times, these are students that they will be attending high school with.<strong> <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Work ethic:<\/h2>\n<h2>High Expectations<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Students will take responsibility for their actions<\/li>\n<li>Attend all meetings \u2013 students call leaders if going to miss a meeting<\/li>\n<li>Being a responsible and active part of the group with a positive attitude<\/li>\n<li>Best behavior. This tour will affect future tours.<\/li>\n<li>1 adult leader who will go through the entire process with them and be their leader on tour.<\/li>\n<li>Ratio is 1 adult to every 6-10 students.<\/li>\n<li>The leaders are teachers, school administrators and parents- Many years traveling experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Learn about American History: Individual research on a specific, tour-related topic.
